Cane Bay Cares Supports “Girls in STEAM Saturday Camp”: Inspiring the Next Generation

This past Saturday, Cane Bay Cares proudly supported the Virgin Islands Department of Education – Division of STEAM Education’s “Girls in STEAM Saturday Camp” at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts (CMCArts). This inspiring event introduced girls aged 8-12 to the exciting fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Our support reflects Cane Bay’s commitment to fostering educational excellence and empowering future leaders.

The camp provided a dynamic, hands-on learning experience, blending art, science, and technology in a unique setting. The young participants were given a special tour of CMCArts, where they explored and critiqued the artwork on display, gaining insight into creative expression and artistic appreciation. A highlight of the day was an exclusive walkthrough of the “Waldemar Brodhurst – Wire Art/Crucian Stories” exhibit, guided by the artist himself.

This personal interaction gave the girls a deeper understanding of art as a storytelling medium and the cultural significance behind each piece.

After their artistic exploration, the girls put their STEAM skills to the test with a fun and educational science project—making their own lip balm. Experimenting with colors and scents, each participant crafted a unique creation, learning about chemistry, product formulation, and the science behind cosmetics.
