Let’s Light up St. Croix with LUCI Solar Lights
Nearly 90% of St. Croix is still without power more than a month after Category 5 Hurricane Maria made landfall. Residents are anxious to rebuild and get back to a normal routine, but that’s hard without modern conveniences that we’ve all grown accustomed to – light among them.
That’s where LUCI solar lights come in. These awesome little lights have become quite popular when it comes to hurricane supplies and aid. They are inflatable, hand held or hanging lights that charge in the sunlight. It takes about 8 hours to get a full charge that can last up to 12 hours. They are even waterproof and can charge while it’s raining.

We were able to purchase several hundred of these lights through MPOWERD, which is selling them at a discounted rate of $7.50 each for relief efforts. In order to expand our reach and provide aid that is meeting the long-term needs of residents still without power, these lights were the perfect solution in every day renewable energy sources.

In order to continue to provide these lights to the St. Croix community, we’re asking for donations of $90 in order to purchase a pack of 12 lights.

Cane Bay Cares is a service initiative of St. Croix-based Cane Bay Partners VI, LLLP. Cane Bay Cares was established after three strong hurricanes, including two Category 5 storms, Irma and Maria, caused much damage to St. Croix during September 2017. The initiative has a goal of providing relief to the citizens of St. Croix. To make this possible, we have partnered with St. Croix Foundation, which is a 501c3 nonprofit that was established in 1990.
