At Cane Bay Cares, we believe something as simple as improving a child’s educational experience can have uplifting affects throughout society.

  • Inspire students who are falling behind and need a boost, as well as students who are excelling and need a challenge
  • Supplement teacher pay and incentivize high performance
  • Give students a safe and enlightening environment after school while their parents may still be at work

“With nearly half the public schools condemned after Hurricanes Irma and Maria, a higher rate of teen crimes, lower graduation rates and higher poverty rates – our children need us more than ever.”

Here’s the plan:

  • Fund an after school program for students falling behind
  • Supplement over-performing teachers’ salaries
  • Connect skilled mentors with excelling students
  • Host workshops for students who need a challenge
  • Give students a positive outlet 4 days a week, 2 hours a day

An interactive, inspiring curriculum

We believe in empowering good teachers to be creative and use their instincts. So teachers selected to participate in the program will have to have performed well on their evaluations for at least two consecutive years. We will give them a stipend to develop interactive, project-based lesson plans that are more fun and exciting than the traditional curriculum, in an effort to inspire those students who many not be responding to other methods. The lessons will be constantly influx, giving teachers the flexibility to incorporate current events and the latest discoveries in core subjects.

But we don’t want to just get to the students who need an extra hand. We also believe that excelling students need to be challenged, and exposed to advanced subjects that aren’t necessarily part of the current curriculum. That’s why we also are deploying an accelerated program where we bring in professionals from the community to give workshops on website development, digital marketing, data analytics, finance and business.

Cane Bay Cares has committed to funding the program at the pilot school, John H. Woodson Junior High School – but we would like to reach all students. For that, we need your help.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Join our volunteer network and donate employee time
  • Sponsor a student with a $250 annual committment
  • Sponsor a class with a $2,500 annual commitment
  • Sponsor a semester with a $25,000 annual committment
  • Sponsor a school with a $50,000 annual commitment

When using the donate button, simply write in the memo “Cane Bay Cares education,” and if you would like the commitment to be recurring, click that setting in Paypal. Sponsoring a school or a semester will trigger a co-branding campaign where a corporate sponsor gets name recognition and positive press.

To donate employee time or to volunteer yourself, give us a call at 888-809-8868 or email us at [email protected].[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Cane Bay Cares is a service initiative of St. Croix-based Cane Bay Partners VI, LLLP. Cane Bay Cares was established after three strong hurricanes, including two Category 5 storms, Irma and Maria, caused much damage to St. Croix during September 2017. The initiative has a goal of providing relief to the citizens of St. Croix. To make this possible, we have partnered with St. Croix Foundation, which is a 501c3 nonprofit that was established in 1990. All donations to Cane Bay Cares are donations to St. Croix Foundation and are 100% tax deductible.

Cane Bay Partners VI, LLLP was formed in June 2009 and founded by internationally experienced business executives with many years of experience in the financial services industry. Focusing our efforts primarily in the financial services industry, our management consulting practice specializes in providing services to clients in need of sophisticated risk management models, debt collections organizations which require liquidation models and analytics, and portfolio management companies desiring a variety of services.

Since 1990, St. Croix Foundation for Community Development has been advancing holistic community development as a pathway to economic prosperity, self-sufficiency, and sustainability. Established in the wake of Hurricane Hugo, today the Foundation is one of the premier place-based philanthropic leaders in the Virgin Islands. Having served as the conduit of over $37 million private and public sector dollars invested into the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Foundation’s impact has netted national recognition in almost every priority area – from economic development and community revitalization to public health, education reform, and nonprofit development. Our mission is to encourage greater philanthropic activity, to marshal resources, and to act as a catalyst to benefit the people of the Virgin Islands.
