How to Get Involved With the Cane Bay Cares Initiative
With the Cane Bay Cares initiative, you have the opportunity to be an essential component in the improvement of your community.
Whether it is contributing to after school activities, food drives, or beach cleanups, the opportunity to touch lives is priceless. Volunteers are the driving force behind our multiple philanthropic efforts.
Although we have made incredible progress to help the people of St. Croix, we need to have a dedicated volunteer base to ensure its success.
We have positions in logistics, fundraising, marketing, and administrative work. If you would prefer to have face-to-face experience assisting fellow citizens, we also have distribution and outreach opportunities available.
Examples of Past Volunteer Work
Coastworks Cleanup
The event sponsored by The Ocean Conservancy is one dedicated to cleaning our beautiful beaches from trash and other debris. Each year, The Ocean Conservancy mobilizes communities to help organize and participate in beach cleanups in the Virgin Islands while recording what kinds and what amount of trash they pick up. The cleanup and logistics are essential to keeping our beautiful oceans clean.
Mango Melee
This fun event teaches our residents to develop a greater appreciation for mangos, and educates the public about growing these fruits and the many ways they can be used. The event features a cooking contest and a popular mango-eating contest. Enjoy cultural dance performances, moko jumbies, music and more while educating children about the benefits of eating fruits like mangoes. The festival caps off with a silent auction on the tropical fruits that have been on display in the Great Hall for the event. This is a great opportunity to have a great time outdoors while supporting local agriculture.
Ag Fair
This event is a great opportunity to spread awareness about Cane Bay Cares and its benefits to the community. Here, you can contribute to the growth of the effort and impact more people throughout more of the islands through expanding the volunteer and support network. Participating in events like this allow us to hear directly from the community what some of the high needs are so we can direct our resources, and they also allow us to keep the community informed about what we’re up to.
Let us know your interests and availability and we will try to connect you with the right opportunity.
See you there!
Cane Bay Cares is a service initiative of St. Croix-based Cane Bay Partners VI, LLLP. Cane Bay Cares was established after three strong hurricanes, including two Category 5 storms, Irma and Maria, caused much damage to St. Croix during September 2017. The initiative has a goal of providing relief to the citizens of St. Croix. To make this possible, we have partnered with St. Croix Foundation, which is a 501c3 nonprofit that was established in 1990. All donations to Cane Bay Cares are donations to St. Croix Foundation and are 100% tax deductible.
Cane Bay Partners VI, LLLP was formed in June 2009 and founded by internationally experienced business executives with many years of experience in the financial services industry. Focusing our efforts primarily in the financial services industry, our management consulting practice specializes in providing services to clients in need of sophisticated risk management models, debt collections organizations which require liquidation models and analytics, and portfolio management companies desiring a variety of services.
Since 1990, St. Croix Foundation for Community Development has been advancing holistic community development as a pathway to economic prosperity, self-sufficiency, and sustainability. Established in the wake of Hurricane Hugo, today the Foundation is one of the premier place-based philanthropic leaders in the Virgin Islands. Having served as the conduit of over $37 million private and public sector dollars invested into the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Foundation’s impact has netted national recognition in almost every priority area – from economic development and community revitalization to public health, education reform, and nonprofit development. Our mission is to encourage greater philanthropic activity, to marshal resources, and to act as a catalyst to benefit the people of the Virgin Islands.
